No it is not perfect. So why the five star rating. Well it is rugged. Very rugged compared to the other portables.

I have dropped it twice now just to test it. I trusted that it would not be an expensive test. I was not dissapointed. The simplicity of the Wispr will be easy for those who may be all thumbs. Old, arthritis fingers have no problems. The butane lasts, as the ad states, 3 hours. Give or take 1/2 hour depending on how heavy or light the usage is. A can of good 5X butane is needed, but a can lasts along time.

I really like how the wand is flexible and lays in it's own channel out of the way. The filling chamber is simply pressed into the rubber wand. The rubber does a great job insulating the heat from the metal chamber. Also I really like the ignition switch. Two posistion switch that has immediate ignition on every attempt.

As an engineer, I am always interested in tools that are well designed, work efficiently, and are easy to use. The WISPR wins in all categories.

I love the fact that it does not have to be plugged in to an electrical outlet and fits easily in the palm of your hand. It has a solid, expensive feel when you pick it up and looks elegant sitting on your side table. The performance delights me as it heats quickly after snapping the piezoelectric switch to turn on the vaporizer. The vapor is smooth and cool and the effects are soon felt.

The WISPR is designed by an Irish company which specializes in butane powered torches and soldering irons for commercial use and is not a cheaply made Chinese knockoff.

I seldom give five star reviews but this product is one of the few things that I own that merits the top rating.

I have owned the old model iolite for about two years so I was so excited when I saw the intro of the WISPR, so foolishly I rushed out and bought one as soon as I could. Firstly, I feel like I have been swindled out of $270. The WISPR is anything but quiet!! the unit makes as much, if not more hissing sound as the old generation iolites. Secondly after just about 4 weeks, the unit began giving trouble to ignite, with me having to click the igniter dozens of times before lighting, then last week, while using the unit, the damn thing started to overheat, what appears to be a thermostat malfunction because the heater cut in but would not cut back out. I had to switch it off to stop the heating. I have not used the unit since. I strongly do not recommend this product at this time!!!!
